Successful visit from Chief Executive of the LSC

Following his visit to Southend Adult Community College, Mark Haysom, the influential Chief Executive of the Learning & Skills Council, was impressed by the Colleges innovative services

 

Mr.Haysom and colleagues from the LSC enjoyed a guided tour of the College last month, conducted by the College Principal, Ali Hadawi.  The Learning & Skills Council (LSC) are responsible for the planning and funding of high-quality vocational education and training for young people and adults nationally.  They provide the main source of funding for the Community College’s courses. 

 

During his visit, Mark learnt more about the College’s five specialist programme areas, including:

·         Family Learning

- A series of courses, workshops and fun-days which provide parents/carers and their children the chance to learn together

·         Workforce Development

-Aimed at improving opportunities for progression at work

·         Learning Disabilities

-A collection of classes specifically designed for students with learning disabilities or difficulties

·         Skills for Life

-Designed to enhance learners essential skills; reading, writing, spelling & maths

·         Outreach

-A dynamic & innovative Community programme that provides tailored learning and training opportunities to local organisations and groups.

 

Following his visit, Mark Haysom said of the College “I was impressed by your active engagement with key partners in both the adult learning and 14-19 agendas and I really appreciated the opportunity to visit lessons and see students working��?.
